Antonio Sekulic, Croatian national team player, explains his feelings before his first FIFA Futsal World Cup
1. You come to the World Cup in Uzbekistan after beating Poland in the Elite Round playoff. What are the feelings of the group before the debut in the competition?
There is definitely a positive nervousness in the team because this is the first appearance at the World Cup for all of us.
2. On an individual level, what does it mean for you to be able to play the World Cup with the Croatian national team?
Certainly on an individual level this means something special for me, representing my country at the World Championship will be a really special feeling.
3. After your role in UEFA Futsal Euro 2022, what are your objectives for this competition?
It is certain that after being relegated from the group at the Euro, we all want to take a step further and qualify for the knock out phase.
4. Signing for RSC Anderlecht and World Cup date with Croatia, how do you assess your current sporting situation?
I feel very good in that situation and it is certainly every player’s dream to play in such a well-organized club and be part of the national team.
5. Drawn in a tough group with Thailand, Brazil and Cuba, how are you facing this first part of the tournament?
Looking at our group, it is certain that Brazil is the first favorite of the group and perhaps of the entire championship, I think that there will be a big battle between us and Thailand for that second place, but Cuba is also an unknown to all of us, so we have to be extremely careful…
6. What do you think could be the key to reach the next round?
I think the key thing will be in the opening of the championship and who will react better under pressure in the first game… But I hope that with our togetherness in the team, we will go to the much-desired second round.
