Mykola Mykytiuk, ucranian futsal player, comments his feelings before the FIFA Futsal World Cup and analyzes the team’s goals in the tournament
1. First World Cup for you, what does it mean for you to be able to enjoy the best international team competition?
First of all, I want to say that our country is going through a very difficult period, we are at war and the preparation was very difficult due to many different situations, we are very grateful to our military for the fact that we have such an opportunity to represent Ukraine at the World Futsal Championship, without them we would not have been able to do it. Glad and very motivated to take part in such a tournament.
2. You reach the World Cup finals after a long preparation and after being semifinalists in the last UEFA Futsal Euro in 2022. What are the group’s feelings before this big event?
The strongest teams in the world are playing here, each of them has its own style of play, the first match is against the Argentina team, which has a lot of experience in such a tournament, it is no coincidence that they are vice-champions and world champions, we respect our opponents and tune in for a positive result.
3. As a group, what are your objectives for this competition?
Of course, the goals are maximum, we want to achieve a positive result, but we will go step by step, because events can change depending on the situation, we will make efforts.
4. Drawn in a relatively easy group with Afghanistan, Angola and Argentina, how are you approaching this first part of the tournament?
At this level, there are no weak rivals, all countries of the world are developing very quickly, futsal is constantly growing, all teams are competitive, so we will try to implement our plans for these matches.
5. Quarter-finalists in 2012 and round of 16 in 2016. What do you think could be the key to improve these results?
Now there has been a change of generations in our team, for each of us this is the debut World Cup, we are hungry, we want to try to get a positive result and gain a lot of experience. Discipline, hard work and faith are three important factors for us.
6. What do you think Mykola Mykytiuk can bring to the team in this tournament?
I will try to use all my skills and abilities to help the team, and most importantly enjoy every match, because such a forum happens very rarely
